This is a fantastic opportunity to join a world-class team of statisticians. As part of the R&D team, you will be responsible for developing and designing the most sophisticated and innovative statistical software for the company's clients in the insurance/actuarial industry. Technical development and enhancements will be documented and a user requirement guide will be updated accordingly. As this company continues to grow, and as they are continually extending the range of their software, there is more and more room for lateral thinking and for new models and methodologies to be created. This is a unique opportunity in a hands-on role for the successful candidate.

Requirements:
- M.Sc or Ph.D with a strong component of Applied Statistics (particularly Statistical Components)
- Top class academic record
- Microsoft Excel and programming skills (Visual Basic for Excel highly desirable)
- Excellent verbal and written communication for client liaison
- Considerable experience using statistical package (e.g. SPlus, Matlab, SAS)
- Frequent use of normal-based regressions, GLM's and time Series Modelling (Box Jenkins/structural modelling)
- Advantageous: Knowledge of Kalman Filter type algorithms or general Insurance industry experience

The pre-sales consultant will be responsible for assisting business development managers in the sale of large scale analytical solutions to blue chip clients. Solutions will include:
- Predictive Modelling (Churn, Acquisition)
- Campaign Management
- Event based Marketing
- Credit Scorecard Modelling

The role scope will include:
- To provide clarity and leadership in client engagements for analytical solutions
- Providing business and technical expertise in bid processes and proposals through key document reviews, content provision and project plan inputs.
- Development and delivery of demonstrations and presentations relevant to a particular solution or solutions focus.
- Qualifying, preparing and delivering pre-sales client presentations as required with clarity & leadership.
- Participation in and contribution to solution team objectives and outcomes

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills:
- At least 5 years relevant commercial experience
- At least 3 years commercial experience within customer or risk analytics
- Strong exposure to analytical tools such as SAS, SPSS, CART, MARS, Statistica etc
- Exceptional communication skills
- Previous experience working for a consultancy or vendor would be highly advantageous
- Previous pre-sales experience would be highly beneficial
- Skills in SQL, SAS or SPSS -team player and effective communicator
