We really enjoy this time of year as we get the opportunity to recognise members and reflect on what has been happening at IAPA. And, 2014 has been a particularly good year!
In August, IAPA entered into an alliance with the Association for Data-driven Marketing and Advertising (ADMA). With the power of ADMA behind us, we can offer our members new services, increased networking opportunities, more research and a wider network of connections with ADMA.
On that front, we’re now rapidly expanding our education program for 2015 with a fresh array of practical courses for the industry. We’re looking for people to help us develop and teach leading-edge courses that reflect modern-day analytics. So if you’re interested or know an expert who could help, submissions are now open.
This year, we released the second annual IAPA Skills & Salary Survey Report. As we suspected, Australian businesses and government departments are craving analytics professionals but good talent remains hard to find. To help address industry challenges, we’ll continue to increase our research and benchmarking study capabilities in 2015.
To help explain the role of analytics and data in business, we also developed The Value of Data Series - video interviews with prominent Australian analytics specialists like Evan Stubbs, Chief Analytics Officer, SAS; Robert Hillard, Partner, Deloitte, and Elizabeth Moore, Head of Research, Insights & Analytics at Telstra. Feedback has been positive and we’ll aim to do more videos like these in 2015.
On the events front, we hosted a very successful National Conference, with speakers from Canada, the USA and Australia. This was followed in October by a special presentation from Suja Chandrasekaran, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology/Data/Information Officer for Walmart Stores Inc, the world’s biggest retailer. Further afield, we had a record number of meetings– 20 – at our chapter events across six cities.
Finally, this year has seen the rapid evolution of our professional services thanks to our new General Manger, Christine Thomson. With Christine on board as a dedicated IAPA resource, we have been able to provide members with more content, more events and new industry partnerships.
