The Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) works across government to ensure Australia’s position as a leader in the productive application of information and communications technologies to government administration, information and services.
The AGIMO is reponsible for developing policy and guidelines on important information technology issues such as cloud computing and Big Data. AGIMO has set up a Whole of Government Data Analytics Centre of Excellence (COE) with the Australian Taxation Office being the lead for this capability because of its expertise in analytics.

AGIMO has developed a Big Data Strategy which sets out the actions that the Government is taking to harness the opportunities afforded by big data without compromising the privacy of individuals.
The Strategy provides a whole-of-government (WofG) approach to big data in order to enhance services, deliver new services and provide better policy advice, while incorporating best practice privacy protections and leveraging existing ICT investments.
